Cath Schylder

Cath Schlyder joined the Southern Ngaliya Dance Camp team in 2024. She flies out from Tasmania twice a year to take up her role as camp kitchen coordinator. Cath first came to Mparntwe in 2001 and stayed until 2012. During those years she worked both in town and many surrounding remote communities, setting up and running youth program, arts projects, doing large mosaics on shop and school walls, mentoring and running community childcare centres, to name a few ventures.

In the decade of the 90’s, Cath practiced in the performing and community arts in both Brisbane and San Francisco. She also produced and co-ordinated a number of theatrically conceptualised multi arts and performance fundraising events for charities in this time.

In the last 10 years Cath has also worked in different fields with people with diverse abilities, both intellectually and physically, through mentoring programs and providing support. In 2014 Cath became a hospice volunteer and began facilitating community conversations around death and grief, also offering personal support in both of these settings. She is a multi-disciplinary artist, who paints, writes, weaves baskets and creates felt sculptures. Cath is also a ritual practitioner of Rites of Passage and a facilitator of Women’s Wisdom Practices.
