Sylvia divides her time between Mpwarntwe (Alice Springs), NSW, and South India. Her work weaves together dance, expressive arts, yoga, meditation, healing, and community practice, creating spaces where people can reconnect with themselves, each other, and the natural world through movement, creativity, stillness, and deep listening.
Since joining Incite Arts in 2021 as an arts worker and facilitator on the Southern Ngaliya Dance Camps Project, Sylvia has contributed to dance camps, mentoring, performance, and research initiatives. Her lifelong dance journey spans belly dance, West African dance, improvisation, and conscious movement, with study and collaboration across Australia, West Africa, India, and beyond. She is deeply grateful to the teachers and cultural custodians who have shared their knowledge and traditions.
A serious injury led Sylvia into a deeper exploration of healing, shaping an integrated practice that draws on Somatic Dance Movement Therapy, Expressive Arts, Gestalt Psychotherapy, Vedic Samvahan, VortexHealing™, and the Swatantra Way. A qualified yoga and meditation teacher, she has spent nearly twenty years travelling to India and, since 2022, has lived part-time in Tiruvannamalai, where she teaches and facilitates Swatantra retreats and programs. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, culturally responsive practice and inspired by her own experience in the transformative power of authentic creative expression.
