The NT Arts Access Awards

The NT Arts Access Awards were celebrated in Mparntwe on December 3rd, the International Day of People with Disability, during the Alice Springs Mayoral Awards. The host for our part of the event was the fantastic, multi-talented Artist Graham Wilfred, who is also part of the Xpress Music Program and the Community Arts and Disability program, working with his mentor Leslie Simpson, writing screen plays, rehearsing scripts and generally just being an all round creative powerhouse.

Graham is an actor, screen writer, musician, and DJ….and a natural public speaker, imbuing the awards with his distinctive humour and energy and making the entire event vibrant, creative, fun and inclusive.

Also a huge hit at the awards was Caleb McMillan, who is a long time member of the stArts with D performance ensemble. He was a Noteworthy Mayoral Award finalist and when he went up to recieve his award from the Alice Springs Mayor Asta Hill, the crowd went wild! Caleb is a much loved Alice Springs local and the support he receives from his fellow stArts with D’ers is beautiful to see. They have performed together for so many years, and they really do revel in each others successes.

It was a really fun, lively, and inclusive afternoon for everyone who attended, and Incite were extremely proud of Grahams fantastic presenting skills, and Calebs recognition by the Mayor.
